Lux could barely find her brain to answer the riddle to get into the Tower. Once she did, though, she was happy to see only a couple of people in the common room. Anxiously she hoped that there would be no one in the girl's dorm, her chest feeling tight. What would they do if they couldn't find a private place to get back into the book? It was like a drug or something, and Lux wanted nothing more than to sit with Lana on her bed and flip through more of the pages. She set her things in a pile at the foot of her bed, not caring at all to put them away. She was usually so neat and organized, too.
Lana suggested that they close the hangings around the bed, and immediately Lux moved to do so, leaving them in their own private little space. She hoped beyond hope that no one would be back for hours, but she supposed a couple spells such as Silencio would be enough to retain their privacy in such an event. Immediately she settled in next to Lana, resting her head on her shoulder and one hand on her friend's forearm. Lux sighed quietly, letting Lana's scent wash over her and immersing herself back into that strange atmosphere that had come over them in the library. With her shaking free hand, she reached across her friend to open the book again, quickly finding where they had left off. A woman standing behind another, running her hands over her lover's shoulders, neck, arms, sides, hips... Lux was mesmerized by the hypnotic journey the hands made over the woman's body. What would it feel like to touch someone like that? To be touched like that? Her fingers moved hesitantly on their own accord, gently grazing the skin up Lana's forearm to her elbow, and back down to her wrist. Lux felt herself shiver slightly against Lana's body. As strange as this whole thing was, all she wanted was more.

Reading this book was not a good idea, Lana thought, as Lux's fingers moved across her arm. Something was happening to them. Did the book itself hold the curse for the relations shown within its pages? It took all of her willpower to focus on the words, trying to determine if it held any answers. According to the book it was perfectly natural for some men to prefer men, women with women, or even those who enjoyed both sexes. But was it true? Surely if it was natural, normal, they would see it more? If it was fine, then why were people so prejudiced against it?
To get more comfortable, Lana shoved off her shoes, then leaned away from Lux long enough to pull off her jumper. It was much warmer in Scotland than it was in Russia. Her tank top would suffice. She wasn't sure why she bothered with sweaters and such things anymore, when she only found reason to remove them midway through the day. In the brief moment she had taken her mind from her body's strange reactions, they all came flooding back when she settled back down, more skin bared to brush against Lux. Even the slightest of touches made her want more until she scooted herself closer, wanting to do something, but unsure of what to do. If she tried any more subtle touches she was sure she'd be found out. And what would Lux think of her then?

Lux was going out of her mind, and it only got worse when Lana moved away for a moment to take off her jumper. Immediately Lux felt that rush back in her blood, the same as she'd felt that first night when Lana had undressed. Only now, it was far more potent, and she had a pretty good idea of what it was.
As Lana leaned back against her, bare skin brushing Lux's own, she was surprised to feel that she was about to make a sound. She bit it back before she could embarrass herself, though, instead sighing deeply. She was more than grateful that she had taken her jacket off in the library before she'd found her friend, and that it was now neatly folded on top of her books. Her thin, soft t-shirt was now the only thing covering her upper half, and it took a pretty deep plunge in the neckline. Soft blue sweatpants felt pretty warm, though, and Lux was tempted to roll them up her calves, but she didn't want to be away from Lana for even a second. Her friend's familiar scent filled her nose, and her skin was so soft against Lux's own. Suddenly she wanted more than anything to press her lips to that perfect slope where Lana's neck met her shoulder. She parted her lips, wetting them absently and inhaling deeply. When had her fingertips started tracing those soft circles and patterns on Lana's arm?
She turned the page to see two men simply standing in front of each other, shirtless, but otherwise not indecent. They were just looking at one another, until one stepped forward and pressed his lips to his lover's. As slow and intense as the kiss was, it was nothing compared to what Lux had seen in the eyes of the two men.
"I don't think it's a potion," she whispered, consciously feeling her chest rise and fall with each breath. It was like she couldn't get enough air. Potions, if well-crafted and pure, could have quite an effect on a person. But they could never create the sincerity and depth of emotion Lux had seen in that man's eyes.

At the picture of the two men Lux flipped to, Lana felt herself smiling, a warm feeling in her chest, heart swelling. She had never seen anyone look at another person in that way. There was something so raw, so sweet in the gesture. When Lux mentioned thinking it couldn't be a potion, Lana only nodded her head. Would anyone ever look at her that way? Kiss her that tenderly? The two men were nearly as interesting as the two women, captivating in its own way. "It's beautiful," Lana whispered. While the people in the other pictures had been too preoccupied with their own lust, these men heard her, pulling away with sheepish smiles, waving at them. The recipient of the kiss snuggled into the taller man's chest as his lover held him close, pressing his lips to the top of his head. "Awww!" Lana gushed before she could help herself.
Not wanting to move away, Lana had to twist her head to the point of discomfort to look into Lux's face. God, Lux was so gorgeous. Momentarily she forgot her intent, forgetting to breathe as her dark hazel eyes soaked in every perfect curve of Lux's face. Finally she cleared her throat, remembering to speak. "Well...Guess it's not much use if there's no potion. Right?"
Her throat was tight. She wasn't even sure of her own motives for mentioning how useless looking through the book was if there was no potion. Everything about the tome was interesting.
But the blond was more so.

Lux couldn't help but giggle as the men in the picture seemed to realize that they were there, and Lana gushed happily over the two of them. For her part, Lux grinned timidly back and waved her fingers at the two of them, snuggling closer to Lana. She could feel a warm, fuzzy feeling come over her in addition to the heat and tingling and desire. It felt almost like she did when she had a fever, only far more pleasant. No potion could do this to a person.
Lana seemed to agree with her, turning to look at her and reasoning that if there was no potion to be found in this book, it wasn't of much use to them. "Right," Lux breathed, forgetting what she was agreeing to before the word even left her lips. She could feel herself slipping into those deep hazel eyes, admiring how long Lana's dark lashes were, and letting her gaze slide down her friend's face to a pair of perfectly pink lips. They were so close. Lux's space was Lana's space, and it was like they were just one entity, in their own little world, the two of them, always.
Her eyes moved back up to Lana's, heart fluttering as she recognized that look in her best friend's eyes as the one she had seen exchanged between the two men in the book. Love, adoration, desire, intimacy... It all made Lux swallow very hard, the questions and doubt in her eyes fleeing to make room for her own feelings for Lana to shine through. Lana had always been her best friend, and Lux had always loved her so much. But this was something new, something that they hadn't discovered yet. And as confused and even scared as Lux was, she desperately wanted to explore it.
She was leaning in before she even realized what she was doing, hesitating just as her nose brushed against Lana's. She could feel the girl's soft breath against her lips, heart racing furiously. What were they doing? What if it was wrong, even if it felt right? What if Lana wasn't thinking what Lux was?

The way Lux was looking at her made her head spin, the flobberworms in her stomach wiggling around. What was wrong with her? Her entire body stilled, waiting as Lux's eyes met her own again, forgetting once more to breathe.
Suddenly Lux was moving closer. Her heart sped up. What did she do? What was Lux doing? Her lips tingled as she felt Lux's breath against them, tongue poking out to run over them. Merlin, she wanted nothing more than to kiss Lux! But she couldn't. What if....but what else could Lux be doing? What if this ruined everything? What if it was a joke? It would be a mean joke! Lana didn't pull away, but she didn't move closer, either. Thoughts bounced all over her mind, more than she could remember having. Panic. That's what this feeling was. Panic and need and all sorts of other things she couldn't decipher.
Consequences be damned, she thought to herself irritably. This was going to drive her insane if she didn't do something. Hesitantly her hand reached out, trailing up Lux's arm, over her shoulder, up her neck, combing through soft blond hair, swallowing hard and gathering her own courage before closing the distance, kissing Lux timidly. She didn't have much experience kissing, only Rafferty's rough demands. Those hardly constituted as kisses, the bruising force of his mouth, the bite of sharp teeth, tongue plundering her throat. She didn't know how to really kiss, but in only a second, the moment their lips met, it all melted away. All she knew was that Lux's lips were so, so soft and perfect. Shoving the book closed, she rolled over onto her knees, catching herself with one hand on the mattress before bringing it up to cup her cheek, the hand in her hair sliding down to mirror it.

Lux had never been more terrified in her life, save for the night her home was ransacked by Death Eaters. And even that fear rivaled this one pretty closely.
It felt like ages that they were just looking at each other, far too close, noses nearly touching. Lux had started this, pausing once she realized what she was doing, before she went all the way. But she didn't pull back, either. She wanted this, and whatever that meant didn't matter right now. All that mattered was that she wanted to kiss Lana, and she wasn't even sure if Lana wanted the same thing.
Her friend wasn't moving away, but she definitely wasn't moving any closer, either. Suddenly Lux felt very, very stupid. Her face flushed the deepest red it had ever been, and her mind scrambled to figure out how she was going to pass off her actions as something far, far less than what they were. Lana's fingertips on her arm were like a soft halt to her racing mind, though, and Lux inhaled softly as they ran up her shoulder to her neck, tickling pleasantly. She could feel the hair at the back of her neck standing up as Lana gently tangled her fingers in it, leaning forward and pressing her lips gently to Lux's own.
Merlin.
Lux couldn't even think, only feel, and it was incredible. The excited flipping of her stomach, her heart skipping erratically, and most importantly, Lana's lips on her own were all that Lux could concentrate on. Lux swore nothing had ever felt so perfect as her best friend. She felt herself melt against Lana's body as Lana's hand gently cupped her cheek. Lux moved her lips on instinct, having had hardly any more practice than Lana. She drew Lana's lower lip between her own, softly flicking just the tip of her tongue along the edge. Lana tasted incredible. Lux's hand was still on her arm, moving slowly back and forth, while her other hand slid down Lana's side to her hip.

How had she gone so long without being touched like this? It was Heaven. The way Lux's lips moved against her own, the taste of her, the feel of those hands on her body. The blond was so beautiful, so soft and warm and perfect. She had never known touching another person could be this way. Sex was a means to an end as she had known it. Men had sex with women to produce children. Sometimes for their own amusement and pleasure. It was the woman's job to take it without complaint. No matter how long the idea had been drilled into her head, Lana had never been ready, had been desperate to keep Rafferty from taking her. Now at seventeen years old she was truly experiencing all of this for the first time, and it was magic.
It was also severely overwhelming. Her heart felt as though it would burst, head spinning in a frenzy, something squirming in her stomach, the ache between her legs, the newness of this, the strangeness of the entire situation. It was almost more than she could bear. Lana wiggled, clutching at Lux, pulling herself closer for a moment as she struggled to calm down. How was she supposed to handle all of this? It was too much! It was a bit scary, honestly. It was good, but terrifying. Unable to help herself, she laughed, pulling away just slightly to smile sheepishly at her friend, licking her lips.
"Wow."

This is what everyone was always talking about.
Lux didn't understand the hype behind sex completely, and she was sure she wouldn't until she tried it. But if it was anything like this, Lux was no longer turned off to the idea. Merlin, Lana was gorgeous; Lux had always thought so. But she was sure she had never really appreciated just how beautiful her best friend was until this moment.
Lux couldn't help but to sigh into Lana's soft lips, melting completely against her. Her heart flipped and pounded, head swimming, while Lana clutched at her, pressing herself further against her. Lux's fingers trembled against Lana's hip at the increase of passion in the other girl's kisses, feeling the same thing bubbling up in her chest. There was so much going on. A few weeks ago Lana had been dead, and now Lux was kissing her.
She pulled away a bit when she felt Lana do the same, though they were still very close. She grinned foolishly when Lana giggled, muttering in awe under her breath. "Yeah," Lux agreed, shakily, licking her lips. "Wow."
She dropped her forehead to rest gently against Lana's, watching her fingers trail up and down the other girl's arm, just basking in the comfortable silence for a moment. Her nerves and pulse were still going crazy, and there was still a throb between her legs. Even though there was still a desire there, a need for something more, Lux felt much more relaxed. She was perfectly content with just this, and she smiled a bit at herself.
"I'm glad you found that book... even if there wasn't any potion in it," she giggled a bit sheepishly, lifting her eyes to look up at Lana, though she left her forehead gently pressing against her friend's.
